June SDG Reading Challenge – Beach Reads
The beautiful summer sky, sand between your toes, warm sun on your face and a gentle breeze in the wind. Nothing beats the relaxed feeling of only you and your book to make for the perfect day. This month’s SDG Reading Challenge is beach reads, so grab a comfy chair and nestle down with some of these fun, light-hearted reads.
We can’t call this month's theme beach reads without giving a shout-out to the popular contemporary-romance author Emily Henry! Her books "Beach Read," "Book Lovers" and "People We Meet on Vacation" are all sure to make a touching and heartfelt read that will sweep you off your feet. Love her? Then be sure to try her latest book "Funny Story" to enjoy a heartwarming tale of strangers turned roommates and, of course, summer love.
Speaking of summer and hot days in the sun, there is no better place than the lake. Bring along Carley Fortune to enjoy "Every Summer After," "Meet Me at the Lake" and "This Summer Will Be Different." Take a long walk along the lakeside discovering beautiful stories, lost friendships and second chances. Or dive deep with Elin Hilderbrand, Colleen Hoover and Taylor Jenkins Reid!
Have I poked the reading bug yet, are your bags packed? The only way to make this list truly great is to explore more than just contemporary romance by touching on fantasy, thrillers and all the juicy bits in between!
Love a twisty thriller to help wind down on your vacay? Try "The Silent Patient" by Alex Michaelides, or "First Lie Wins" by Ashley Elston. Recently recommended to me is the clever story "Everyone In My Family Has Killed Someone" by award winning stand-up comedian Benjamin Stevenson, a classic whodunit with some witty twist. Want something a bit darker? Try Riley Sager’s "Survive the Night" or "A Game of Lies" by Clare MackIntosh.
Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone
Now, let’s dip our toes in the ocean of fantasy, as nothing can take you further away from reality. Lover of Greek mythology? "A Fate Inked in Blood" by Danielle L. Jensen or "Ariadne" by Jennifer Saint are sure to be an adventure. Gathered round the bonfire with the water lapping in your ears, grab "Heartless Hunter" by Kristen Ciccarelli and "Powerless" by Lauren Roberts to finish off this June Challenge list!
Well, my bags are packed full of books, and my ebooks and audiobooks are downloaded. All I need now is a week of hot summer days by the beach and cool summer nights by the campfire.
