This month for the SDG Reading Challenge, read alongside the battle for the best book in Canada with this month's theme: read any book that is a Canada Reads nominee.
What is CBC Canada Reads? It is a yearly competition hosted by CBC, a "Battle of the Books", in which titles (both fiction and non-fiction) are reviewed. During the competition, a book is eliminated from the lineup of contenders daily until five (5) books remain. Each title in the the final five (5) will then be 'championed' by a celebrity in a series of debates held in March, until, ultimately, one will prevail as the book that Canada should be reading!
The Canada Reads competition has been running since 2002, and each year it features a diverse range of genres and topics, from general fiction to thrillers and suspense, from indigenous history to memoirs and biographies. It's interesting to note that the competition is also open to older titles, so not every book entered is necessarily published in the same year of the competition.
If you'd like to follow this year's competition, the debates take place on March 17-20 on CBC TV, CBC radio and CBC books.
And so, the challenge for March is to read any title from Canada Reads, whether it be this year's top five (5) finalists or a nominee from the past! What will your choice be?
