Annual Reports
Each year, public libraries and First Nation public libraries must complete the Annual Survey of Public Libraries (ASPL). The ASPL requires libraries to report on several key metrics including: use of technology and digital services. types of activities and programs they offer.
This collection of statistics offer a glimpse into a year in the life of the Library, and its ever-evolving role in our community.
In 2022, the SDG Library developed a Strategic Plan to guide its activities over the next five years until 2026.
Several of the key strategic actions pointed to the need to undertake a subsequent Service Review study to examine: the organization of the Library; succession planning; the delivery of programs and services; the adequacy and utilization of facilities; and other key aspects of the operation that affect the services delivered to users.
Twenty recommendations in seven areas were developed. These were:
A) Organization, Staffing and Succession;
B) Public Programs and Services;
C) Policies and Procedures;
D) Networking and Communications;
E) Branches and Facilities;
F) Technology;
and G) Governance.
In some cases, additional supporting text is provided as further rationale for the recommendation. Full details are presented in the Report.
