Library Services Update

During the updated provincial stay-at-home order, all SDG Library branches are offering contactless curbside pick-up services. Patrons are encouraged to contact your local branch to confirm the process for picking up requested materials. Appointments for assistance with online booking or registration for COVID-19 vaccine clinics are available at Alexandria, Finch, Ingleside, Morrisburg, and Winchester. To book an appointment, please contact the branch directly during open hours. Our eLibrary and digital resources remain fully accessible. The health and safety of our staff and the public is very important to us. Please self-screen for COVID-19 symptoms before coming to pick-up your items. If you’re feeling unwell or have any symptoms, please postpone your visit. All instructions, advice, and orders provided by the province and the health unit must be followed when accessing Library Services. Face coverings are required when picking up your Library materials.

To request items for pick-up at your preferred branch, place a hold online using your Library account at or contact staff by phone or email. When you are notified your items are ready, contact your branch to arrange pick-up. Please have your Library card with you when you come to pick-up your items.

We continue to monitor the impacts of COVID-19 in our communities and will provide any updates as they are available.

Returning Items

If you’re returning items, please place them in the book returns outside the branch. Please note, returned items are quarantined for a period of time prior to being checked in. Items will remain on your account until this quarantine period is over. If you have returned an item and it is still on your account, please wait a week before following up with Library staff. No overdues will be charged.

While overdue fines will not be charged during this time, it is still important to respect borrowing periods to ensure other patrons can access materials in a timely manner. Items that are overdue for 6-weeks or more will be considered lost. Borrowing privileges will be suspended and patrons will be charged to replace these items. Charges will be removed when the items are returned.

What We're Doing to Keep You Safe

The health and safety of our staff and the public is very important to us. Our services follow all provincial and public health advice and guidelines. The following safety measures have been put in place:

  • All staff have personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Regular cleaning and disinfecting procedures are in place.
  • Physical distancing protocols are in place and signage is provided to guide patrons in following these protocols.
  • Returned materials are quarantined before re-circulating.
  • Branch occupancies are being monitored and the number of people permitted in a branch at one time may be limited.
