FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Food for Fines
October 31, 2018
For the second time this year, the SDG Library is giving its members the opportunity to pay down their Library fines with non-perishable food donations. From November 17–24, each SDG Library branch will be collecting food items on behalf of local food banks or organizations. New this Fall! – for every non-perishable food item donated, the Library will waive $2.00 in overdue fines.
“Food for Fines is a great initiative. Its success stems from the from the generosity of our community, and from the dedication of Library staff and their commitment to this worthy initiative,” says Karen Franklin, Director of Library Services.
A May 2018 Food for Fines campaign raised 528 donations of food or cash. The SDG Library would like to thank all those who take part to make this program such a success.
Questions about this program, along with other ways to donate to Library initiatives, can be directed to SDG Library, Administration Office, at 613-936-8777, or by email to kfranklin@sdglibrary.ca.
