“Food for Fines Success” at SD&G County Library
December 1, 2017
For the second time this year, SD&G County Library patrons paid off – or helped others to pay off – Library fines with non-perishable food donations. For every item donated, $1.00 in overdue fines were waived. The program ran from November 18 to 25. Each branch collected food items on behalf of local food banks or organizations.
“I like to think of the Library’s ‘Food for Fines’ campaign as a jump start to your holiday cheer”, says Nicholas Seguin, Communications & Marketing Coordinator. “The success and enthusiasm for ‘Food for Fines’ is yet another example of the generosity and kindness of our community, and is a great incentive for patrons with outstanding fines.”
The fall campaign resulted in 832 items donated, while the May campaign brought almost 500 items. The SD&G County Library would like to sincerely thank all those who participated.
