Kevin Sylvester Author Visit
June 10, 2019
On Thursday, June 6th, the SDG Library welcomed award-winning children’s author and illustrator Kevin Sylvester to the Ingleside and Winchester Branches.
Over 50 participants attended each event and were treated to stories of how Mr. Sylvester got started drawing, a reading of one of his books, and an introductory session to cartooning. Geared towards children between 8 to 13 years old, the author was invited to SDG to provide an engaging program specifically for this age group.
“We knew that Mr. Sylvester would be a hit”, said Jenna Lamarche, District Supervisor with SDG Library. “He connects well with his audience and his works are funny – it’s a great combination. We were very happy with the response and the turnout.”
Mr. Sylvester has written and illustrated many books, both fiction and non-fiction. His most recent books include Mucus Mayhem, part of “The Almost Epic Squad” series; Follow Your Stuff: Who Makes It, Where Does it Come From, How Does It Get to You?; and the popular “MINRS” and “Neil Flambé” series.
At the end of both presentations, participants were able to ask questions and request individualized cartoon drawings from the author/illustrator.
Many of Kevin Sylvester’s books can be borrowed from the SDG Library. To reserve your copy, visit www.sdglibrary.ca, or contact your local branch.
