FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
‘Read for 15 SDG’ Challenge
January 20, 2020

For the second year in a row, the SDG Library is inviting residents to participate in the ‘Read for 15 SDG’ Challenge in support of Family Literacy Day.

The ‘Read for 15 SDG’ Challenge encourages all residents in SDG to take 15 minutes on January 28 and read anything they choose – a book, a magazine, an online article, a blog – anything!

“We were very happy with the response to the Challenge last year” said Susan Wallwork, Communications & Marketing Librarian. “Over 350 people participated, demonstrating the importance of literacy in our communities. We’re looking forward to even more participating in the Challenge this year.”

To participate, simply:

  • Read anything you want for 15 minutes on January 28.
  • Let the Library know you read by posting on social media, using the hashtag #ReadFor15SDG; alternatively you can let us know via email – programs@sdglibrary.ca.
  • Challenge your friends and family to participate as well!

The ‘Read for 15 SDG’ Challenge encourages whole families to take a small amount of time, individually or together, to build their literacy skills. It is a fun and easy way to celebrate Family Literacy Day and raise awareness of the importance – and joy - of reading!
