Message from Karen Franklin, Director of Library Services, SDG Library
December 24, 2020
On December 21, the province announced that we would be going into a provincewide shutdown on Boxing Day (December 26). Just as we have throughout the pandemic, the SDG Library has carefully reviewed the directions provided by the province and what this means for our services.
Under the ‘Shutdown’, public libraries can remain open for curbside, delivery and pick-up services. At SDG Library, we will be keeping all fifteen of our branches open for this level of service. Computer access, browsing, short stays, printing/photocopying/faxing services will not be available during this time. Hours of operation will continue to be the same as they have been during our modified services and can be found at sdglibrary.ca/current-hours-locations#branches-location.
Physical library materials can be requested and picked up at your preferred branch during their open hours, and of course, our digital materials and eResources are available anytime at sdglibrary.ca. Our staff will be happy to help direct patrons in the safe pick-up of their library materials and we will provide any updates on services available on our website or social media platforms.
I think it is safe to say that 2020 was not the year that anyone thought it was going to be! Now, as we head into the final stretch of the year, we are being asked once again to take extraordinary measures to keep our friends and family safe. I know we are up to this challenge.
Wishing everyone a happy and safe holiday season!
