Message from Karen Franklin, Director of Library Services, SDG Library
June 29, 2021
As most of Ontario gets ready to head into Step 2 of the provincial ‘Roadmap to Reopen’, the SDG Library is preparing to welcome back our patrons for in-branch services – on a limited basis. Throughout the pandemic, the health and safety of our staff and the public is still of the utmost importance. Therefore, our approach to re-opening continues to carefully consider this as we re-introduce services.
Beginning on Monday, July 5, six branches (one in each local municipality we serve) will resume regular hours of operation and offer a variety of in-branch services. Alexandria, Crysler, Ingleside, Lancaster, Morrisburg and Winchester branches will offer in-branch holds pick-up, computer access (up to 30-minutes), printing/faxing/photocopying services, browsing, and short stays (up to 30-minutes).
We are also happy to welcome patrons back to our other nine locations for limited hours of operation and select in-branch services. In-branch holds pick-up, computer access (up to 30-minutes), and printing/faxing/photocopying services will be available at Avonmore, Chesterville, Finch, Iroquois, Long Sault, Maxville, South Mountain, Williamsburg and Williamstown branches as of July 5th. Browsing and short stays (up to 30-minutes) will resume at these branches shortly, so stay tuned for updates!
During Step 2, capacity limits and other safety measures will be in place, and include maintaining physical distancing and wearing a face mask. Please make sure to self-screen for COVID-19 symptoms prior to coming to the Library, and if you’re feeling unwell, please postpone your visit. Programing will continue to be offered virtually, and, as always, our digital resources are available 24/7 with your Library card.
We are also happy to share that we will be re-instating our inter-library loan service very soon – watch for more information. Staff at the SDG Library are excited to be safely resuming some of our in-person services and welcome patrons back to our spaces.
During this time of frequent change, we encourage you to stay connected with us on social media and/or via our website (sdglibrary.ca) for the most current information and hours of operation. We will continue to share information as we have it. For now, welcome back, and please stay safe.
