Ready to Read! Backpacks

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Introduction of “Ready to Read!” Backpacks
December 13, 2018

Just in time for the holiday season, the SDG Library is introducing “Ready to Read!” Backpacks into its collections. These backpacks are perfect for those busy families looking to quickly grab a selection of reading materials for their young children.

Each backpack contains between five to ten children’s books that have been hand-selected by branch staff. Geared to young children, these books will cover various subjects and appeal to different reading levels. Once returned, a new selection of books will be chosen for each backpack, making it a surprise each time a pack is checked out.

“We have put together these packs to make it easier for parents and caregivers on the go to borrow Library materials for young children.” Karen Franklin, Director of Library Services said. “The pre-selected materials make it convenient for busy families to have fun reading at home, while supporting early childhood literacy.”

Each branch of the SDG Library will have two backpacks which can be borrowed by Library members for three weeks. Backpacks cannot be placed on hold or renewed.

Make a visit to any branch of the SDG Library this holiday season and check out one of the “Ready to Read!” Backpacks. For more information about this resource or any other SDG Library resource go online at www.sdglibrary.ca or call (613) 936-8777.

This project was made possible with the generous support of the Friends of the SDG Library.
