SDG Library MakerLab Grand Opening
September 30, 2019
On September 25, over 60 residents from all over SDG came out to celebrate and experience the new SDG Library MakerLab.
Both patrons and first-time visitors attended the grand opening which included a special program for the regular “MakerKidz” patrons, as well as 3D printer and Cricut machine demonstrations. “MakerKidz” is a weekly program that provides hands-on maker activities for children ages 6 and up.
“We are very excited about launching this space” said Jenna Lamarche, District Supervisor with SDG Library. “The response from patrons and visitors has been very positive and we are looking forward to providing some unique and innovative programs here.”
The grand opening provided people with the opportunity to tour the space, see the equipment that is currently available and to discuss future plans with staff.
The SDG Library MakerLab is located in Finch and is a redesign of that library branch. The Lab has been open since September 3. Individuals or groups are encouraged to use the Lab to take on their own projects or to join one of the Library’s planned programs.
