Off the Shelf Library News - April 2016

Have you read any good graphic novels lately?  You might be surprised to see what’s available and who is reading them.

Graphic novels have come a long way.  More and more we’re seeing variety in the stories available in the graphic novel format and a corresponding growth in readership.

From Manga and superheroes to political commentaries and Shakespearean classics, the graphic novel format offers a diverse selection of novels.  And this means that there is a diverse selection of readers, from children to teens to adults – the selection is broad.

And interestingly, graphic novels are being embraced by schools, libraries and other institutions for both literary and artistic value.

This April, the SD&G County Library is celebrating all things graphic novel.  So, if you have been thinking about testing out the graphic novel waters, now couldn’t be a better time.  We’ve built up a collection of bestsellers, award winners and debut titles that will appeal to any reader.

Or maybe you’re a seasoned reader of this format; come in and share your knowledge with us!  There is so much to enjoy and learn through the graphic novel format and we’re excited to connect you to it.  Keep exploring and you never know what you’ll find.
