October is here and with it comes Thanksgiving, Halloween, and Ontario Public Library Week!
Every October, our province dedicates a week to celebrating all things libraries – this year, celebrations take place between October 16 to 22.
What better time to show your support and visit your local library branch? All this month, there are open houses, local author visits, and innovative programs - all designed to showcase library services. Why not stop by a branch and help celebrate!?
October is a time to show how we feel about libraries; not only is a good time to celebrate, but it is also an opportunity to remind those around us how much we value our libraries. It’s a chance to remind everyone of what is available through the library, what new services are offered, and what those services mean to our communities.
Across SDG this month, Library staff are working hard to show all sides of public libraries – the only thing missing is you! Come by for a visit, participate in our contests, or sign up for a library card. We’re looking forward to welcoming you.
Programs and events around Ontario Public Library Week have been planned at all branches of the SD&G County Library throughout October. Contact your local branch for more information or visit us online at www.sdglibrary.ca.
And don’t forget, our SDG Reads final event takes place during Ontario Public Library Week on October 19th. Join us at North Stormont Place in Avonmore as we welcome award-winning author, Frances Itani. For more information on SDG Reads, visit www.sdglibrary.ca/sdg-reads or speak to Library staff.
