FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
TD Summer Reading Club Launch Party
June 24, 2019

Saturday, June 22 marked the official launch of the SDG Library’s TD Summer Reading Club program. More than 90 children and caregivers attended the launch party held at Chesterville Park on Saturday morning.

Little Ray’s Reptiles was a hit with all in attendance, as participants met a skunk, great horned owl and of course, a couple of snakes and turtles. The presentation was only fitting, as the theme for this summer’s reading program is the Natural World.

The party rounded out with meeting Alyssa and Amanda, the program’s Facilitators, enjoying themed refreshments, and providing the opportunity to win prizes.

“Our Launch Party is a great way to kick off the summer and get kids excited about the reading program” said Amanda Derouchie, one of the Library’s Summer Reading Club Facilitators.

The TD Summer Reading Club is a bilingual program, designed to encourage school-aged children to participate in literacy-based activities during the summer. The program lasts for eight-weeks and is offered at each branch of the SDG Library at different days and times.

“We have a lot of children participate in the program” said Alyssa MacMillan, the other program Facilitator. “We have put together different activities each week to keep it interesting and fun for everyone.”

The TD Summer Reading Club weekly program starts next week (July 2) and runs until August 22. For more information about the program or to register, contact your local branch or visit www.sdglibrary.ca/td-summer-reading-club.
