SD&G County Library Volunteer Event
May 1, 2017

On April 28, the SD&G County Library celebrated the 70 plus volunteers that dedicate their time at Library branches, the administration office, and at events throughout the year. Held during National Volunteer Week, the event brought together individual volunteers, as well as the members of the various Friends of the Library groups.

Over 35 volunteers came out to the appreciation event held at the Avonmore Branch, to be recognized by both Library staff and the Library Board. Evonne Delegarde, Library Board Chair, began the evening by welcoming and thanking all the volunteers, followed by individual recognition by the Director of Library Services, Karen Franklin. Refreshments, prizes and socializing rounded out the evening.

“The Library is very fortunate to have a great group of volunteers to support us” says Susan Wallwork, Communications & Marketing Librarian. “This event was our way of saying thank you for their contributions throughout the year – we’re grateful for all they do.”

The volunteer appreciation event provided an opportunity for volunteers, Library staff and Board members to interact and find out more about what each does for the Library. Library staff plan to make this an annual event.
